Salvador’s international airport, Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães (SSA), sits in the north-east of the city. The good news: Caminho das Árvores is one of the most convenient parts of town to reach from it, straight down the airport road and Avenida Paralela, without crossing the old city.

At a glance

Option Time to the apartment Good to know
App ride (Uber, 99, InDrive) 20–40 min Easiest. Usually somewhere around R$50–80
Airport taxi 20–40 min At the arrivals exit; more expensive than app rides
Metro, line 2 about 45 min in total Aeroporto → Iguatemi, then a 15-minute walk or short ride
Rental car 20–40 min Free parking in the building

Times depend on traffic: allow extra on weekday evenings between about 5 and 7:30 p.m.

By Uber, 99 or InDrive

For most guests this is the simplest option.

  1. Connect to the airport wifi or switch on your eSIM or roaming after you land.
  2. Request the ride from the app and follow the signs to the app pick-up point at arrivals.
  3. Check the plate and the driver’s name before you get in.

You’ll receive the exact address through Airbnb before your trip. Use it as the destination.

By taxi

Official airport taxis wait at the arrivals exit. They’re reliable and handy if your phone isn’t working yet, but noticeably more expensive than app rides. Confirm the price or check that the meter is on before you leave.

By metro (line 2)

The metro is cheap, air-conditioned and avoids traffic, a good choice in daylight if you’re traveling light.

  1. From arrivals, follow the signs to Aeroporto metro station.
  2. Take line 2 toward Acesso Norte.
  3. Get off at Iguatemi station, next to the Shopping da Bahia mall. The ride takes about 25–30 minutes.
  4. Walk about 15 minutes to the apartment, or take a short app ride if you have heavy bags or it’s late.

Note: the station was called “Rodoviária” until 2026, when the city’s intercity bus terminal moved to Águas Claras. Some maps and older guides still use the old name.

By rental car

All the major rental companies have desks at the airport. The drive is straightforward along Avenida Luís Viana (Paralela), and the building has free parking. A car is handy for day trips north to Praia do Forte and the Linha Verde beaches. Inside the city, app rides are often easier than finding parking.

Arriving at the apartment

  • Self check-in with a keypad. You’ll get the code and step-by-step instructions through Airbnb messages before your stay.
  • 24-hour doorman at the building entrance. Say which apartment you’re staying in.
  • Elevator to the apartment, so heavy luggage isn’t a problem.
  • Need something? Message Lara through Airbnb. She replies in Portuguese, English or Spanish.

Late-night and early-morning arrivals

Check-in opens at 3 p.m., and with the keypad it doesn’t matter how late you get in. Landing after midnight? Book from the day before: your stay starts at 3 p.m. on the check-in date, so the apartment is already yours when you arrive. At night, take an app ride or a taxi rather than the metro and walk.

First-day tips

  • Mobile data: an eSIM bought before you fly is the easiest option. Local SIM cards are sold in the malls.
  • Money: cards (including contactless) are accepted almost everywhere. For cash, use ATMs inside the airport or the malls.
  • Time zone: Salvador is on Brasília time (UTC−3) all year, with no daylight saving.
  • Groceries: the Shopping da Bahia mall is about 15 minutes’ walk away, with supermarkets nearby for a first shop.
  • Beach day: the Pituba seafront is 10–15 minutes by car. Porto da Barra, for calm swimming, is 20–35 minutes away.
